I graduated in Fashion and Textiles at Winchester School of Art before moving to London. My involvement in the Fashion/Textile industry has been varied, ranging from running my own design company and a stall at Camden market, to designing collections for companies such as BOY, NO!YES? Clones and Artificial eye, in the 80’s and early 90’s.
Since 1994 I have been Head of Fashion and Textiles on the Foundation Course at University College for the Creative Arts. (formerly Kent Institute of Art and Design)

My current work.
I have a curious mind that searches into, and appreciates the corners of life that others may find ugly and grotesque. I enjoy living in a world that challenges our perceptions and verges on the macabre. I need to be challenged by the twists of nature, the strangest of things and the extraordinary.

I am fascinated by museums that contain specimens of natural history, especially late Victorian taxidermy when there was a trend for anthropomorphic taxidermy and Wunderkammer. Making connections with the Cabinet of curiosities and the work of Walter Potter amongst others.

Since then I have developed a desire to create work that deals with the complex issues surrounding mans relationship with death and animals.
I do not view a dead animal as disgusting or offensive even though perhaps the average thinker does.
I appreciate the wonder and beauty of the natural world in both life and death.

My work is among other things an attempt to transform the “ dirty creatures” into strangely beautiful museum pieces. I have become a cosmetic taxidermist playing with both seduction and repulsion.” I like to work with the animals that are un-mounted, half prepared and seem most dead. I am particularly drawn to the reject animals.

Elements of my work and ideas can also be linked to an interest in how certain cultures deal with death. Sentimental remembrances, shrines, mummification and preservation of remains.
